The topic of self-development is already the biggest topic in coaching and it is because it empowers us.

Self-development has become a central focus in coaching and self-help. It is no surprise really -  it empowers individuals to make meaningful changes in their lives. And in a life where we feel that there is so much we can not control or influence, having autonomy over our own experience is so meaningful.
Here is what we see already:
  • Industry focus: Approximately 60% of coaching clients seek support for personal development and self-growth, making it the most popular area of coaching. (ICF)
  • Self-help taboo drop: Previously, the self help section in libraries and bookstores was almost a shame section - there was some kind of perception that only those who do not seem to have some aspect of their life under control, would go there.
Now, In the self-help industry, around 80% of books and resources center on personal growth, mindfulness, and emotional well-being, reflecting the demand for this kind of transformation.

  • Positive impact: Do we really need science to prove to us that working on ourselves leads to a better life? But ok, let us look at the data.Research shows that people who engage in self-development practices experience up to 40% greater life satisfaction and improved emotional resilience. (Journal of Positive Psychology)
We have normalised having a coach, we have normalised seeing a therapist and we have normalised wanting to grow and live our best lives in whatever way we decide. Personally, I believe this is absolutely phenomenal. Knowing ourselves really is the first step that changes the world.

Well. That brings us to our last conversation. What would you like to say?
It has been a journey, and I hope we speak again. Meanwhile…
