Motivation and Support: why your friends matter for making a change

Motivation is important when making changes in our lives, then comes the discipline to stay consistent. But there is a third factor that comes into play and that is the support from others - especially when the change is big. Whether it is from family, friends, or a community, social support helps us stay accountable and motivated, especially when challenges arise.

Why support group or buddy matters:
  • Accountability: Having someone - who has our back - to check in and share our goals with increases our chances of sticking to them.
  • Emotional encouragement: Supportive groups offer reassurance and positivity when motivation wanes or triggers come into play.
  • Shared experience: Connecting with others who are on a similar journey makes us feel understood and seen and less alone.

Research studies show that people who have strong social connections are more likely to maintain healthy habits and feel more resilient in the face of challenges, they are the ones that keep the results in the long run.

This is why having a community or a group backing us up, or even this one friend that always supports us - but that is also able to hold us accountable - must always be part of the plan we make.

So if I want the best beach body this summer, I need my friend onboard.
Fun way to look at it, but yes - who we surround ourselves with is key.
