What is the difference between self-love and self-care?


These two are very tightly connected - when we have cultivated a sense of self love and appreciation, it is more natural that we implement self care rituals.

But it works the other way around as well - creating self care rituals gradually influences and lifts our self love.

Self-Care: it usually refers to the physical, emotional, and mental practices we engage in to feel better and maintain our health. Examples include eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, or journaling. It's about tending to your needs on a regular basis.

Self-Love: that, on the other hand, is about how you view yourself. It is about cultivating a sense of worth, compassion, and acceptance, regardless of flaws or imperfections. Self-love means treating yourself with kindness and understanding, especially during tough times.

While self-care nurtures your health and energy, self-love nurtures your soul, shaping how you feel about yourself. Usually, when we build a good self care ritual we see that our self love transforms as well.

We start speaking to ourselves a little kinder, being more patient but also holding ourselves accountable to the things we want to achieve. This is why cultivating self love is vital to making changes - we change quicker under the drive of love, rather than under the drive of judgement.


Overcoming my own judgement is hard. I do not think it is even possible.
                 And you would be somewhat right. It is a part of us..
